History of True Love Music
Passion
Across the street from where my dear mother lived for the last 30 years of her precious life is a park called by the name of Mingus.
The year was 1992...
The place, Coos Bay Oregon.
At that time, I was performing with one of my more successful secular bands named “Gemstone” a power-trio rock band that specialized in classic rock of the 60’s and 70’s. Our slogan was “Gemstone, Rock of the Ages!” Though, at that time, I had once again drifted very far from God, that slogan left me unsettled in my spirit...
It was around that time that Jesus once again knocked on the door of my heart. He had delivered to me, by numerous supernatural means, a calling that I now believe I have had since I was born; to preach the Gospel with music!
At the time of my calling and even to this day, my life completely lacked the financial means to see such a vision come true... to reach the entire world with music.
I remember walking around Mingus Park, as I would witness to young couples who seemed so “in love” and yet I knew that what they were experiencing would, without God, quickly fade away.
I would walk up to perfect strangers and say, “Do you know the man who built this park?”
“Mr. Mingus?”, they would answer.
With a wry grin on my face, I would say, “No, He made the trees and the birds in the sky!”
Invariably, their faces would turn incredulous and they would say,
“Ohhh... you mean God?”
“You... uh... KNOW Him???”
“Yes” I’d say, “I grew up a Christian. I played music in all the churches I went to, played for the old folk in care centers and even in insane asylums! I sincerely tried to live a life that was pleasing to God. But the problem was I never KNEW Him. Now I do! And I’m out here in this beautiful park to tell you that He loves you and that if you seek Him, He will be found by you! He will protect the love that you have for one another, for He is Love!”
I had NEVER done that, in all the years that I considered myself a Christian. And whatever fears I had to witnessing to perfect strangers quickly vanished in the prismatic-light that was refracted off the tears of those young faces when they realized that it was God Himself making His appeal through His humble servant.
“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us.”
2 Corinthians 5:20a NASB
During the summer of 1992, I miraculously met a group of young people at a major Christian concert in Vancouver, Washington named Jesus Northwest. At that event I received the anointing to do what I’ve been doing for over 30 years. It’s a fascinating story. I share it as part of my testimony wherever I minister the Gospel.
That same Summer I finished my first musical project “Messenger”. As I walked around the streets of Coos Bay looking for young victims to spring the Good News upon, which had become my daily habit, I would pray in the Spirit and I would ask the Heavenly Father, “What is it gonna take to bring this amazing music to the world?”
... “Silence.”...
I persisted, “What will be the personal characteristic that people will recognize in myself, if I will ever bring such beautiful music to the ears of those who really need to hear it?”
Again... “Silence.”...
I persisted in that prayer/conversation I remember for over half an hour. Finally, through perseverance in prayer the Holy Spirit gave me the answer:
“Humility”.
“Humility?” I queried. “Is that all?!”
In my naïveté, though I had the answer from God Himself, little did I realize exactly what that word actually means. Now, in my 32nd year of ministering in that gift, I’m only beginning to catch a glimpse of the meekness and humility of Christ.
Humility is the quintessential ingredient for any Christian that desires to do the will of our Heavenly Father (necessary for salvation). I realize that when God called me, my circumstances were humble, for sure. As I write this memoir I know that it is God’s mercy that allows certain circumstances to teach us where we need to change; what it is that’s a stumbling block in our lives to achieving The Faith.
Now the year is 2024. I was just 33 years old when I walked that park. Now I am 65 as I write down this memoir. The good news is that God in His infinite mercy sees our zeal and desire to live lives according to His will and provides all we need as we continue to devote our heartfelt attention... our True Love to Him.
I have decided to promote True Love Music through this website, truelovemusic.org, and I pray it will be an effective platform for the introduction of all the Music that I’ve written and performed over the last 30 years... hundreds of songs that will show even the most indifferent Christian that we can become blind to the glory of the image of Christ and that to know Jesus Christ and the Father truly is life eternal:
“This is eternal life, that they may KNOW You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
John 17:3 NASB
God always chose throughout the ages of time to reveal Himself through humble human agencies. That is why we read about men like Enoch, Noah and the prophets. That is why He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus. Not just to die for our sins… But to also to clearly speak the Word of God...
~ The Logos ~
“I know that His commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me."”
John 12:50 NASB
At the beginning of this musical adventure, I remember a good old friend of mine‘s first revelation from God through fervent prayer was that, “God is love and love is a choice!” Throughout all these ages He’s always allowed us to choose daily whom we will serve...
Ourselves, or God.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal. If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.”
John 12:24-26 NASB
In this age of infinite deceptions, distractions and delusions it is God’s infinite mercy that is bringing forth music, messages and miracles that will truly reach many hearts for the Kingdom of God.
May God richly bless all the people, patrons and participants of this musical outreach!
Glory to His Holy Name!
In His True Love,
Gabriel ❤️
